Big Island · Beaches
Also known as Honokaʻope Beach, this remarkable stretch of shoreline sits just minutes from Mauna Lani Resort. Its sand, composed of fine black lava grains from a century-old Mauna Loa flow, makes it one of the most distinctive beaches on the Kohala Coast.
The Beach
The protected cove creates calm, clear water suited to swimmers and snorkelers of all ages. The rocks on either side of the bay are particularly productive for snorkeling, with a variety of tropical fish visible in the shallows.
All Abita guests receive complimentary snorkel gear, making this an easy add to any beach day. The beach works equally well as a primary destination or as a change of pace from the Mauna Lani Beach Club.
